difficult decision

Dear Dr. Forslund,

Thank you so much for everything you did yesterday. It's never easy to say goodbye to a beloved pet and companion, but I appreciate how dignified the process was and your professionalism.  I can tell you care very deeply about what you do. I am so comforted knowing that Whiskers transitioned in a safe, loving, dignified environment.

Kind regards,
Lisa Pearce

When our beloved Emily had to go to doggie heaven it was one of the hardest decisions we have ever made. She was so much of a part of our lives. When we did decide that morning to let her go, we called Dr. Forslund and she was able to come by the same afternoon, so Emily wouldn’t have to suffer any longer than necessary. Dr. Forslund was very kind and understanding. Emily was able to go with love all around her in the comfort of her own bed, the place she loved.

Thank you Dr. Forslund,

The kindest, most unselfish thing you can do is to avoid the dreaded and stressful vets office and allow your pet to have the comfort of home and family in their last moments.  The patience, kindness and compassion that Dr Forslund offers is such a comfort.  From the first difficult phone call to the follow up call the next day,  everything is handled with a gentle voice and gentle hands.  It is always difficult to say goodbye, but I will not regret having my sweet, devoted dogs spend their last moments in my arms and at home.

Sailor was an older soul … he had a calcified disk in his back and arthritis.  We used a supportive harness to help.  However, our walks got shorter as his back legs grew weaker.  In spite of Dr. Gordon’s and Susan Davis’ best efforts, Sailor finally could not stand.  Dr. Annie Forslund came to the house on January 14 and let Sailor leave this world where he was most happy – in the living room on his bed.  Dr. Forslund was wonderful – gentle, quiet, and loving … Sailor never had an anxious moment.

Sailor’s toys are resting on his bed, as they were, untouched, hoping that his beautiful, spirit may visit.  I am grateful for every moment I had with him.  His beautiful soul has been, and will always be, a shining light in my life.  I will continue to quietly return that love to him every day …

So many people loved and feared Johnny over the years.  He was as welcoming as a dog when people he cared about would drive up to the house, but those same delighted people would often not dare to pet him.  Johnny was such a large and wonderful specimen of a cat.  At his peak, he weighed 17lbs.  Gracie and I would say “17lbs of joy!”

He lived a long life, though he was quite sick at the end.  Thanks to Dr.  Forslund, we felt at peace with his illness because we knew he wasn’t suffering and we knew she would advise us as to when he was ready to pass on.  He lived beyond what the vets thought possible, with her gentle hospice care.

Sadly we put our sweet, beautiful Wally to rest after almost 14 amazing years of life with him.  He valiantly fought his renal failure for 9 months with such grace.  Wally passed very peacefully in my arms and we know he is in a place where he no longer feels ill.  I am actually feeling more peace than I have ever felt when I have put an animal to sleep because of you and how you handled the entire process.  You made it a beautiful experience for us.  I can't thank you enough.

Cassidy was our baby and was a very hard loss.  We had to make this decision that same day so due to the quick timing and how sick our baby Cassidy was, there was not much that was going to give us comfort but Dr. Forslund managed to do us that.

Dr. Annie was very loving and kind and her calm demeanor and caring heart made things a little easier on us. We will always remember your kindness on that day. You have a great heart and you were of great help in bringing peace to us on that very sad day. We will always remember you for all you did to help Cassidy and us.   Thank you Dr. Forslund, thank you for comforting us.

Nikki came to us unexpectedly, like falling stars and four leaf clovers.  She was as fiercely independent as she was affectionate and loving.  She was our companion, our cuddle bug, and our protector and she brought joy to our family everyday.

Dr. Forslund, thank you again and again and again.  We will be forever grateful to you for helping us give Nikki a peaceful and dignified departure. Your expertise and your calm and gentle demeanor made the most difficult decision and process more bearable. When Nikki wagged her tail and kissed you, we knew we'd made the right decision.

Nikki, a hundred years would not have been enough and we will always love you and miss you everyday.

Cher was the most kind, loving, loyal, and gentle dog I have ever known.  She loved everyone and everything, except the vet’s office.  So when the tremendously difficult decision was made to put her down, I knew that in home euthanasia was the appropriate choice.

Dr. Forslund was so gentle and loving, and Cher loved her immediately.  Cher had a quiet, peaceful passing in the comfort of her home with her family around her.  This really should be the way that all pets spend their final moments.  Thank you, Dr. Forslund, for your invaluable care.

Cher, you are amazing, and you will never be forgotten.

Madison was our beloved Yellow Labrador, our child before we had kids, and our amazing companion for almost 12 years. She and her littermate sister, Hana, and fellow pet cat, Rascal, brought so much joy to our house. Madison was happiest barreling into the waves at the beach and fetching whatever sticks she could find. She could read our emotions like a book, and provided us with unconditional love.

She was an intense personality and hated going to the vet. Dr. Forslund was very sensitive to our needs and allowed us to say goodbye to our sweet puppy in the comfort of our own home. Her sister, and companion kitty were able to say goodbye. This meant more than the world to us. It was our final gift to a dog who gave us more love than could ever be reciprocated. She finally had peace, and we now have peace knowing we did absolutely everything possible to make her happy.

Thank you again for helping us and sharing your knowledge, comfort, and support.
