Dr. Forslund discusses pet pain on TV

On this second installment of my blog, I would like to share with you the results of the survey I sent regarding the subjects that are of interest to you.  The most popular subject requested was “Signs of hidden pain in pets” with 85% of the respondents.  Other subjects of strong interest were “Quality of Life” with 69%;  “Other pets in the family and pet loss” with 53% and “Natural Death” with 42%.

I was honored to be a guest on Kababayan Today, on LA Channel 18 just this week and the interview was on how to recognize pain in pets!  I invite you to watch the segment:

Hidden Pet Pain, Part 1

Just as there are a wide variety of manifestations of pain in humans, so are there for animals.  Not all humans feel pain the same way; pain is likely not felt the same way by every animal either.

Some people tolerate dental work very stoically and honestly don’t mind it that much while the same procedure is unadulterated torture for others.  Similarly, we have observed that if you cut a toe nail too short on one dog, he might simply pull his paw away while another dog might shriek so loud that an entire block will wonder what animal abuse has just taken place!

Animals do feel pain in similar ways as humans do, but they display it in much more subtle ways.  Their emotions and behavior...

Dr. Forslund's first blog

Dear Clients and Friends,

Many of you have requested that I provide a blog regarding End of Life pet care and this post/email is in response to this need.

In this blog, I will share tips to help pet owners who are facing their pet’s End-of-Life phase, share memorials of precious family pets who have passed away so as to honor their memory and I will discuss any topic that you feel is important.  In order to find out what subjects are of interest to you, I have created this survey which will take only a few moments.  From the results of this survey, I will make a list of the most popular blog topics suggested.  You can take the survey by clicking here:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VKDQMTW.

Many of you have...
